Deepak Tijori is a film director and actor who has worked in Bollywood and Gujarati films for several years now. The actor, who became a household name after playing Shekhar in Aamir’s debut film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, is all set to impress the audience with his upcoming project, Echoes of Us. While promoting the short film, Deepak sat down for an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble and got candid about several things.

Deepak Tijori On Aamir Khan Recommending Him Ghulam
When asked if he was a typecast in negative roles after some time, Deepak Tijori said, “Woh maine accept nahi kiya tha, tabhi main nikal gaya. Main toh chal raha tha, aisa nahi hai ki Aamir ne kuch bura socha. After the Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na phase, I did some odd roles. Fir, woh log bana rahe the Ghulam do yaa teen saal se. Tab films bane ka yeh duration tha, uss time pe Bhatt sahab ke ek do filmein mujhe samjh nahi aaye toh maine mana kardi. Uske liye gaali bhi khaai thi. He used to say, ‘Tu paagal hogaya hai. Tum actors ka dimaag kharab hogaya hai.’ Ghulam ban rahi thi, tabh pata chal ki Bhatt sahab en Ghulam bhi chodh di thi, he said, ‘Aamir ko jhel nahi sakta’.”
He added, “Toh tab Vikram aagaya tha, he was making Ghulam. We were good friends, he called me and asked me to meet Mukesh Bhatt. Toh main gaya, main gaya, he said, ‘Dekh, humlogo ko malum hai tujhe naa bole ki aadath hai. Vicky andar baitha hai, sunle, samajh mein aaye toh karlena.’ Then I sat with Vicky, I said, ‘Dekhkar jitna hai utna sunana, aur sach-sach sunana.’ That’s when people lie to you, yaar. That’s also when bade directors used to say, ‘Aye, main aise tujhe present kar raha hoon’.”
Deepak Tijori On How People Used Him
He concluded, “And, I am like ‘Yaar present kardoga, lekin kahaani itni lambi bana doge aur main hi katunga fir.’ Aur main katchuka hoon bahut jagaho se. I was getting a feeling that people are misusing me. Then Vicky told me, ki Aamir ka bhi yahi kehna hai ki humne hum logo ne Charlie dekha hai, Charlie nahi mila tu Charlie ban. Usne mujhe teen scenes sunaaye, maine bola, ‘Thik hai Vicks’.”
The actor said, “Main bahaar gaya Mukesh ji ko bola, ‘Paise aap dete nahi, jo bhi role mujhe role hai. Mujhe acha laga hai isiliye kar raha hoon.’ Toh aise karke main bolke chala gaya. Iss maamle main bahut transparent tha, jo sach hai woh bol diya. Toh jab Ghulam mili, achi baat yeh thi ki I was back on screen. People loved it, even if it was three. Aamir wapis aaya theatre se, he said, ‘Deepak tereko kya setee bajane aati hai, kya taaliyan padi’.”
