Farah Khan, in her latest YouTube vlog, took a playful dig at Deepika Padukone’s recent demand for an 8-hour work shift. This comes just days after her exit from the Kalki 2898 AD sequel. Recently, Deepika Padukone made headlines when the makers of Kalki 2898 AD announced her departure from the project. This isn’t the first time her exit from a film has grabbed attention—earlier, she had made waves by leaving Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit over demands for an eight-hour workday and higher pay.
In her new vlog, Farah Khan and her cook Dilip visited Rohit Saraf’s house. During the visit, Rohit mentioned that it was the first time his mother appeared on camera and that they had made her wait a year to shoot. Jokingly, Farah responded, “Haan itna time toh Deepika Padukone ne nahi lagaya mujhe haan bolne mein.” Later, Dilip asked Farah when they would visit the Om Shanti Om star’s house. To this, Farah replied that she now only shoots for 8 hours and doesn’t have time to be part of their vlog.
Is Farah Khan in support of an 8-hour work shift?
This isn’t the first time Farah Khan has commented on Deepika Padukone’s 8-hour work demand. In an earlier vlog, while visiting Radhikka Madan’s house, they discussed her first audition for Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi. During the conversation, the topic of shift hours came up. Radhikka shared, “I felt very safe the moment the camera switched on.” She added that she was sure she wouldn’t be cast after the audition, but to her surprise, she was shooting for her next project within two days.
Farah then asked her about having an 8-hour shift. Radhikka replied, “56 hours non-stop or 48 hours non-stop.” The filmmaker, who has worked with Deepika in Happy New Year and Om Shanti Om, hinted that she doesn’t support such a rigid 8-hour work schedule either. She concluded with a playful remark, “Aise tapke hi toh sona banta hai,” implying that sometimes, pushing limits is what makes great work happen.
After welcoming her daughter, Dua, in late 2024, actress Deepika Padukone allegedly requested an 8-hour workday, igniting widespread discussion within the Indian film industry. This demand was reportedly a significant reason behind her prominent departures from two major projects in 2025: Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD.
