Rakhi recounted visiting her mother’s grave on Diwali, offering sweets and a bottle of wine in her memory, emphasising her belief that her mother’s soul is still alive. Rakhi Sawant Reveals Celebrating Diwali At Mother’s Graveyard
When asked about how a mother’s love and presence, her protection, stays in her child’s life, Rakhi Sawant shared, “Yeh meri maa baithi hai mere paas, bilkul! Aaj tak main jail nahi gayi, aur aaj tak mera kuch bura nahi hua, kyunki meri maa ki atma, Khuda ka pyaar, aur meri maa ka aashirvaad mere saath hai. Jab main pehli baar India waapas aayi thi na — Diwali ke din, toh sabse pehle main shamshan ghat gayi. Meri maa ka jo grave hai na, uske paas gayi, mithaai chadhayi, ek wine ki bottle bhi rakhi, kyunki maa ko sursuri (patakhe) bahut pasand thi! Sab log hans rahe the, ‘Arre, maa ke saath kaun Diwali manata hai shamshan mein?’ Main boli, kyun nahi? Meri maa hai, main toh nahi bhoolti. Tum log marne ke baad apne maa-baap ko bhool jaate ho kya? Main nahi bhoolti!“
She continued, “Main toh mast shamshan ghat mein jaake apni maa ke saath Diwali manayi, mujhe bahut accha laga, meri atma ko shanti mili, aur mujhe lagta hai maa bhi khush ho gayi. Main sabko kehna chahti hoon —Jao shamshan ghat, Diwali manao apne parents ke saath.”
Concluding, she said, “Jab zinda the, tab toh manate the na —abh marne ke baad kyu bhool jaate ho? Woh kahaan gaye? Sirf sharir khatam hota hai, aatma kabhi nahi hoti khatam. Meri maa aaj bhi zinda hai, aur jab Jesus dobara aayenge, meri maa dobara zinda ho jaayegi. Because she was a believer in Jesus Christ. Me too.”
About Rakhi Sawant’s Mother
Rakhi Sawant’s mother, Jaya Bheda (also known as Jaya Sawant), passed away at age 73 on January 28, 2023. She had been battling stage-four endometrial cancer and a brain tumour. It had spread to her lungs and liver, resulting in multi-organ failure. Rakhi was by her mother’s side at Criticare Asia Multispecialty Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, during her passing. Deeply emotional about her mother’s illness, Rakhi often spoke about her unwavering support. She even left the Bigg Boss Marathi 4 show, along with her prize money, to help cover her mother’s medical expenses amidst their financial struggles.
