Meezaan Jafri opens up on the insecurities he believes hold many new-gen actors back from sharing screen space with another male lead. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, he cites Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic Darr performance as an example of how belief in talent can outshine any fear of comparison. Meezaan asserts that he follows the same philosophy, trusting his screen presence and performance. Reflecting on his experience working with Harshvardhan Rane in Miranda Brothers, he recalls the genuine camaraderie they shared. Scroll down to read what he said and watch the full interview.
Meezaan Jafri Says New Generation Actors Are Insecure, Under Confident
When asked if this generation of actors is hesitant to lead any film with another male star, Meezaan Jafri said, “They are not hesitant, they are extremely insecure and underconfident, okay? Agar woh apne craft mein confident hote, toh unhe confidence hota ki main koi bhi character play karu, I will perform to the best of my abilities. If Shah Rukh sir had thought like that for Darr, he wouldn’t have played the villain — but he outshined everyone because he believed in his craft and he was confident in himself. And I think I take the same approach. I’m confident in what I do, my screen presence, my dialogue delivery, and the way I look. And I know I’ll be able to perform and stand out in whatever I do.”
Meezaan On Working With Harshvardhan Rane
He shared his experience of working with Harshvardhan Rane. Meezaan said, “Harsh and I did Miranda Brother. And that was a lovely experience. We both bonded so much and had a blast on that film. But aise actors milna bahut mushkil hota hai who are willing to do those kinds of films. It has to be a mutual agreement. And once that happens, and you’re on set, then there are so many more problems that come on set like, ‘Why is he doing this scene?’ ‘Director sir, iska dialogue kaat do.’ ‘How can you do this to me, sir? How can you make me look smaller?’ All that nonsense happens.”
