Anurag Kashyap said, “It was my best work. I’ve never done such honest, important work.” The director further said that it was shelved as Netflix backed out of the project. This affected him and he went into depression, started drinking heavily and had two heart attacks after that. “Maximum City was where all my energy went. I was heartbroken. I totally lost it“, he added. The Gangs of Wasseypur director also criticised the streaming space and said, “Streaming was finally the space I was waiting for. Anurag exclusively told us, “He really wanted to do Bombay Velvet and he remembered all the dialogues.” When asked why it didn’t happen, Anurag said, “It took me a long time to understand that films jo hoti hai choti choti but hamari kam budget ki thi.
