What Did The FWICE Letter State?
The FWICE had earlier issued a letter stating, “As you are aware, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), in line with directives from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, has instructed all artists, performers, and technicians in the Indian entertainment industry to refrain from collaborating or performing with Pakistani nationals or organizations connected to Pakistan. These measures are in response to ongoing acts of terrorism and hostile activities against India from across the border.”
Ban On Pakistani Artists
This issue arose after the Pahalgam attack in April 2025. Following this Indian artists were advised not to work with Pakistani artists. Two weeks later, India conducted a counter-terror operation against Pakistan’s terror infrastructure. During this tense period, the Indian government also directed OTT platforms and streaming services to cease showing Pakistani content. It included movies, web series, songs, and podcasts, and blocked social media accounts of Pakistani actors in India.
