Sunny Deol fans are all set to be hit with nostalgia with the actor’s upcoming actioner Border 2, and it’s not only because the actor is reprising his role of Major Kuldeep Singh. As per a recent media report, the actor is all set to recreate one of the iconic scenes from the 1997 epic war films based on the events of Battle of Longewala (1971) that took place during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
As per the report, the upcoming emotional but action-packet film – which also stars Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, will see Sunny recreating the iconic rocket launcher scene. Read on for details.

And now, as per a recent ETimes report, Border 2 will have the iconic scene from the 1997 film in it too. A source close to the production revelaed, “It’s a homage to the original,” before adding, “The team wanted to bring back that larger-than-life, goosebump-inducing moment for the sequel, and Sunny sir was completely on board with the idea.”
Adding that the 68-year-old actor was adamant to do his own stunts, the insider revealed, “The scene has already been shot, and you won’t believe your eyes when you see Sunny paaji, with a heavy rocket launcher slung over his shoulder, charging towards enemy positions.” They added, “The entire crew was left stunned watching his energy and commitment. That rocket launcher weighed several kilos, but he carried it like it was nothing.”

The epic war film will be directed by Anurag Singh and is scheduled to release on January 23, 2026 coinciding with Republic Day 2026. The sequel promises to take audiences on a spectacular journey of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice.
