The Border Security Force (BSF) said on Friday that it killed seven terrorists who were trying to cross into India from Pakistan through the Samba sector in Jammu. The BSF also destroyed a Pakistan Rangers post across the border in the same area.
This happened on the night of May 8-9, when a large group of terrorists was spotted by BSF surveillance. According to a BSF spokesperson, the terrorists were being helped by gunfire from the Dhandhar post of the Pakistan Rangers.
The BSF responded strongly, stopped the infiltration, killed at least seven terrorists, and heavily damaged the Dhandhar post. The BSF also released a thermal imager video showing the destruction of the Pakistani post.
The force is currently on high alert due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, especially after the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22 and India’s retaliatory strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Recent updates
The Indian Army reported that Pakistani forces carried out multiple ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir. On the evening of May 8, Indian air defence units shot down at least eight missiles fired by Pakistan. These missiles were aimed at important areas in Jammu, including the Jammu Airport in Satwari, but were destroyed in the air before they could hit their targets. Officials described the missiles as “cheap rockets,” similar to those used by Hamas.
The missiles were directed at key locations like Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia. Defence sources compared Pakistan’s actions to those of terrorist groups, mentioning a recent meeting between Pakistan’s spy agency ISI and Hamas operatives in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. In addition to the missile attack, Pakistani drones were seen trying to enter Indian airspace. These drones were quickly taken down by India’s air defence. One of the drones reportedly crashed near Jammu Airport, as seen by locals.
After the threat was neutralised, Jammu city experienced a sudden power cut. Two loud blasts were also heard, likely caused by the drone interceptions. Air raid sirens were activated, and people were advised to stay indoors. Bright flares lit up the night sky as defence teams continued their operations, with many residents watching the events unfold from their balconies.
