Dharmendra Prayer Meet: Hema Malini Breaks Down Remembering Late Husband; Esha, Ahana Deol Pay Emotional Tribute In Delhi- Watch

Veteran actress Hema Malini held a prayer meeting in Delhi today to honour the late film legend Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24 at the age of 89 after a brief illness. The event coincided with what would have been Dharmendra’s 90th birthday on December 8.

Hema Malini Pays Emotional Tribute To Dharmendra At Prayer Meet In Delhi

The prayer gathering took place at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre on Janpath, New Delhi, starting around 3:30 pm and concluding later in the day. Hema Malini organised the event alongside her daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, and her son-in-law, Vaibhav Vohra. Esha Deol’s former husband, businessman Bharat Takhtani, also attended.

This was the second memorial service held in remembrance of Dharmendra, with several political leaders present. Hema Malini addressed the assembly emotionally, expressing her feelings about Dharmendra’s loss. She said, “In this prayer meeting, I welcome all of you. I am overwhelmed. I never imagined I would have to organize such a memorial for Dharam ji. The whole world is mourning his passing, but for me, it’s an unbearable shock—a loss of a companionship that lasted a lifetime.”

Sharing heartfelt memories of Dharmendra, Hema Malini paid tribute and led a two-minute silence in his memory. She and her daughters were seen paying their respects with folded hands, reflecting their deep grief and love for the late actor.

Dharmendra’s Prayer Meet

The initial tribute took place on November 27 at Taj Lands End in Mumbai, organised by the Deol family. At the entrance, Dharmendra’s sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, along with other family members, stood with folded hands, expressing gratitude as friends and colleagues arrived to pay their respects. The tribute concluded with a musical performance by Sonu Nigam, who rendered some of Dharmendra’s most beloved songs, including “Aa Ja Jaane Wale,” “Rahe Na Rahe Hum,” “Aaj Mausam Bada Beimaan Hai,” and “Apne Toh Apne Hote Hain.”

Notable attendees included Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff and many others.

While some celebrities gathered at Taj Lands End, others visited Hema Malini at her Mumbai home to offer their condolences. Among those who met her privately were Mahima Chaudhry, Fardeen Khan, and Sunita Ahuja with her son, Yashvardhan. Hema Malini also conducted a Gita Paath at her residence in Dharmendra’s memory.

Meanwhile, Dharmendra’s sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol celebrated his 90th birthday today, December 8, with fans at home.
