Paalin Kabak ADMITS Varun Dhawan-Led Bhediya Changed His Life
When asked about his Bollywood debut in Bhediya with Varun Dhawan, Abhishek Banerjee, Paalin Kabak said, “Yes. Bhediya did mark my entry into mainstream cinema. Woh ek tareeke se mera debut hi tha.”
Speaking of how his role of Jomi changed things professionally, he shared, “Isme aisa hai ki personally aur professionally dono tareekon se hi mere life mein kaafi contribution raha hai Bhediya ka. Professionally agar pehla bolun toh training bhale hi maine NSD se li ho, lekin wahan theatre mein maine specialisation kiya tha. Yahaan pe pehli film hi mujhe ek aisa role mil gaya — koi chhota-mota bhi nahi — proper lead role, you know. Varun Dhawan jaise star ke alongside acting karna, Abhishek Banerjee, Deepak Dobriyal jaise talented actors ke saath kaam karna. Maddock Films ke banner ke andar kaam karna, jo itni content-driven movies banate hain. In sab se bahut kuch seekhne ko mila.”
Paalin On How Bhediya Changed His Life
He continued, “Professionally main ek level aur elevate ho gaya. Kyunki theatre specialisation ke baad directly ek itni badi film mein kaam karna, mere liye film acting ka ek journey, ek short-term crash course jaisa ho gaya. Specially Bhediya ka genre, thoda comical, farce — uske nuances bhi maine seekhe. Above all, the working culture. Kyunki yeh mera debut tha, main fresh tha, toh industry ka kaam karne ka tareeka samajh aaya. 100, 200, 300 log ek film ko banane mein lage rehte hain din-raat.”
The actor concludes, “Kaise sets chalti hain, kaise departments coordinate karte hain, kaise professionally khud ko carry karna hota hai as a brand, as an actor. Yeh sab exposure mujhe wahaan mila. Personally bolun toh Bhediya ke baad log pehchaanne lage mujhe. Pehchaanne se bhi zyada, log pyaar dene lage. Aaj bhi Delhi, Bombay, Northeast — kahin bhi chale jao toh log bolte the, ‘Arey Bhediya wala Jomin!’ Toh mera Jomin wala naam bahut famous ho gaya tha. Toh personally main yahi kahunga ki bahut pyaar mila, bahut acceptance mila.”
About Bhediya
Bhediya was a 2022 Hindi-language horror-comedy film directed by Amar Kaushik, featuring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. The movie tells the story of a man who transforms into a werewolf in the forests of Arunachal Pradesh. The film blends elements of horror and humour. It is the second instalment in the Maddock Films horror-comedy universe, which also includes films like “Stree” and “Munjya.” Building on its success, a sequel titled “Bhediya 2” is scheduled for release in August 2026.
