Sonakshi Sinha On Public Scrutiny Surrounding Her Interfaith Marriage To Zaheer Iqbal
During an interaction with Soha Ali Khan on her podcast, Sonakshi Sinha reacted to the public scrutinising her and Zaheer Iqbal’s interfaith marriage. She said, “I don’t know why everyone was so hot and bothered. It’s all just noise, honestly. I am not the first person who did it, and I am not going to be the last. It’s a grown-a** woman making a life choice, which people who I don’t even know tried to have a say in it for some reason. It felt all really stupid at that point in time. It was all just so beautiful for us; we were thrilled to spend the rest of our lives together, so we just cut out the noise.”
Stating that it was difficult to avoid the negative despite turning off the comments of her social media posts, Sinha continued, “It’s very difficult, especially at that time when you only want positivity coming your way. We live in a social media world so I had to put off my comments. I didn’t want to read a single negative thing on my big day about me, my partner, or my family.”
During the same conversation, Sonakshi Sinha revealed she hid her relationship with Zaheer from her parents for almost 3 years.

Zaheer Khan and Sonakshi Sinha dated for seven years before tying the knot on June 23, 2024 in a civil ceremony under the Special Marriage Act. Post their legal marriage at Sonakshi’s Mumbai residence, in the presence of their families and close friends, the duo hosted a reception for industry colleagues. The duo first met at one of Salman Khan’s parties in 2013, but it was only in 2017, during the after-party of Tubelight, that they felt a spark.
