Thamma – the fifth film in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, is all set to release on October 21 and the film’s lead actors are busy promoting it across platforms. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles, the Aditya Sarpotdar directorial is based on the supernatural mythical Indian folklore creatures betaals.
During an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble host Ankita Bhalla, ‘Alok Goyal’ Ayushmann Khurrana got candid about many things including his role in the film, playing Prem in Sooraj Barjatya’s next and creating controversy with a statement recently. For the unversed, Khurrana recently compared Thamma and Lokah. The actor has now reacted to the statement being taken out of context and being blown out of proportion. Read on to know all he said
Talking about his comment Thamma being massier than Lokah being blown out of proportion, Ayushmann Khurrana said, “Of course it is.”
Stating that it was misinterpreted, he continued, “I’m a fan of that film. There’s no doubt (it’s an amazing film), everyone will agree. What I meant to say was that Hindi speaking market mein – like I was shooting in Allahabad waha Lokah release nahi hui hi. Main dhekhna chahta tha par waha release hi anhi hui thi par waha Thamma paunch jayegi. Maine Mumbai mein aake dhekhi hai (Lokha), I wish waha bhi release hui hoti.”
He added, “I loved that film. More power to Dulquer Salmaan (producer), Kalyani Priyadarshan (actor) and the entire team. I really enjoyed the film.” He signed off by saying in Hindi, “I feel Thamma will benifit from the success of Lokah.”
Talking Ayushmann Khurrana’s statement, the actor was quoted saying, “We are high on comedy. Though I enjoyed Lokah, but I also feel that…I was shooting in Allahabad at that time, and it was not released there. So ours is a more massy film because it penetrates down to the Hindi-speaking markets also. Lokah could be a good induction for certain multiplex audiences towards this thing, but we have a different genesis, different situations, and it’s a different story. But there’s hardly any similarities.”
