In today’s age, social media trolling is very common, especially for actors; Kritika Kamra revealed how she dealt with one such incident. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, the Gyaarah Gyaarah actress recalled her Independence Day social media post receiving negative comments. She recalled the post becoming a political debate and discussion. Scroll down to read below and watch the interview.
When asked about dealing with social media trolls, Kritika Kamra said, “Kabhi-kabhi jab mujhe bahut feel hota hai toh main bol deti hoon. But I wish ki main aur detail mein ya aur ek constructive baat keh paati, ya kisi se online kar paati. Kyunki log bina baat ke polarised ho chuke hain. Matlab jo bahut normal cheezein bhi humein lagti hain, woh bhi ab polarised ho jaati hain. Maine Twitter pe Independence Day post kiya tha. And I generally don’t read, but it was pointed out to me. So I saw the comments below it.”
The actress continued, “People were offended, but it’s something very normal. Ki jin ideals pe, jin adarshon pe hamare desh ne azaadi prapt ki hai, humein unhe bhoolna nahi chahiye. Aur humein yeh bhi nahi bhoolna chahiye ki kitna kathin hai un ideals ko salamat rakhna. That was my tweet: Happy Independence Day. Isme kya offensive hai? But comments shuru ho gaye, negative comments shuru ho gaye. Usmein automatically ek political alignment assume kar li gayi. Why? I didn’t understand.”
Concluding, she said, “Jabki mera kehne ka simple yahi matlab tha us waqt bhi, aur maine yeh kisi se baat karte hue bhi kaha tha—ki hum toh azaadi bhi sangharsh karke prapt ki hai. Hum jaante hain ki oppressed hona kya hota hai. Hum jaante hain ki—you know, humne apartheid dekha hai, famines dekhe hain, us tarah ka occupation dekha hai na, humne? Toh jab bhi yeh hamare desh mein ya world mein kahin bhi hota hai—jaise ki is waqt Gaza mein ho raha hai—humein toh particularly samajhna chahiye yeh dard. Kyunki hum toh isse guzar ke hi azaad huye hain, right? Toh, we should be the first people to feel their pain.”
Kritika Kamra was last seen in Saare Jahan Se Accha: The Silent Guardians and is filming Matka King.
