Jackie Shroff shares iconic scenes played by Sanjeev Kumar

Jackie Shroff remembers the late legendary actor Sanjeev Kumar on his death anniversary. He shared some iconic scenes performed by the actor, which included a sequence from the 1975 blockbuster Sholay and the 1978 film Pati Patni Aur Woh.

Jackie Shroff posted several photos of the late star and the video on his death anniversary. Sharing it on his Instagram story, he wrote, “Remembering Sanjeev Kumar (9 July 1938 – 6 Nov 1985.)

From romantic to thriller Sanjeev Kumar is known for his best roles in films such as Khilona, Yehi Hai Zindagi, Naya Din Nai Raat, Devata, Itni Si Baat, Ram Tere Kitne Naam, and more. He impressed fans with a double role in Angoor, which was listed among the 25 best acting performances of Indian cinema by Forbes India on the occasion of celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema. He also won two National Film Awards for Best Actor for his performances in the 1970 movie Dastak and Koshish, which was released in 1972.

Sanjeev Kumar at 47, suffered a massive heart attack, which resulted in his death in 1985. His last film was Professor Ki Padosan in 1993, following more than 10 films released after his death.

Sanjeev played the role of Thakur in Sholay; it was one of the most iconic cult classics, was directed by Ramesh Sippy, and written by Salim-Javed. The film is about two criminals, Veeru played by Dharmendra and Jai essyaed by Amitabh Bachchan, who are hired by a retired police officer to capture the ruthless dacoit named Gabbar Singh. The film also starred Amjad Khan, Hema Malini and Jaya Bhaduri. The music was composed by R.D. Burman.

On the other hand, Pati Patni Aur Woh was directed by B. R. Chopra. The film stars Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha, and Ranjeeta Kaur, and in guest appearances, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Tina Munim and Parveen Babi. The film was remade in 2019 with the same name, starring Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Pandey. The film was directed by Muhammad Aziz.
