Starting from April 10, Mumbai’s Elphinstone Bridge will be closed for the next two years as work begins on the new Elphinstone Flyover and the Shivdi-Worli Elevated Connector.

With construction underway, traffic in the area is expected to be affected, especially on routes heading east and west. To ease the impact, the Mumbai Traffic Police have put several diversions in place and shared an advisory to help commuters navigate the changes.

If you’re planning to travel through this area, it’s a good idea to check the updated routes in advance to avoid delays and confusion.

What Mumbai Police Advisory say

For commuters heading to Dadar West: For commuters heading towards Dadar West will need to take a right turn at Madkebuwa Chowk (Parel TT Junction), go along Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, then take left at Khodadad Circle (Dadar TT Junction), and proceed towards your destination via Tilak Bridge.

Way towards Prabhadevi and Worli: Go straight from Madkebuwa Chowk on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road. Pass through Krishna Nagar Junction, Parel Workshop, Supari Bagh Junction, and Bharat Mata Junction.Once you reach there, turn right onto Mahadev Palav Road, go over the Currey Road railway bridge, and then take another right at Shingle Master Chowk. Continue via Lower Parel Bridge to reach your destination.

It’s best to factor in some extra travel time and stay updated on traffic advisories during the construction period.

From Madkebuwa Chowk: Vehicles will move straight on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, passing through Krishna Nagar Junction, Parel Workshop, Supari Bagh Junction, Bharat Mata Junction, and Sant Jagnade Chowk. From there, drivers should take a right turn onto Sane Guruji Road, cross the Chinchpokli Railway Bridge, and then turn right again at Comrade Gulabrao Ganacharya Chowk (Chinchpokli Junction). The route continues via NM Joshi Road towards the final destination.

From Sion and Matunga side: Vehicles that usually access Prabhadevi and Worli via Elphinstone Bridge will instead take a right turn at Khodadad Circle, continue along Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, and reach their destination via Tilak Bridge.

Motorists are advised to follow traffic updates closely and allow extra travel time while these diversions are in place.
