Mumtaz Shares Her Condition For Bollywood Comeback
Speaking to Instant Bollywood, Mumtaz said, “Main filmon mein buddhi ka role toh karne vaali nahi hoon. Aur jaisi main lagti hun vaisa role offer hua nahi. Jab hoga tab sochungi. I want a role that fits my looks. Mujhe vaise offer nahi aaye jaise mujhe chahiye. Main kisi ki maa ka role karne waali nahi hun. No.” (I’m not going to play an old woman in films. And I haven’t been offered a role that suits how I look. When something does come along, I’ll think about it. I want a role that fits my personality and presence. I haven’t received offers that match what I’m looking for. I’m not going to play someone’s mother).
Mumtaz was a beloved face of the late ’60s and ’70s. She starred in many hit films like Do Raaste*, Brahmachari, and Khilona, which won her a Filmfare Award. Her strong screen presence and versatility helped her shine in both glamorous and emotional roles. Her pairing with superstar Rajesh Khanna in films like Sachaa Jhutha and Aap Ki Kasam became legendary.
Even after decades away from the screen, Mumtaz continues to be admired for her timeless beauty and elegance. Her fans would be thrilled to see her return, even if just for one powerful role. With her recent statement, there’s now hope that we may see the iconic actress grace the screen once again.
