A 24-year-old photographer from Uttar Pradesh was killed after allegedly sharing a married woman’s photos on Instagram without permission, which angered her family and in-laws, police said. The woman’s brother and cousin have been arrested.
According to the police, the two accused tricked Chandan Bind into coming to a farm on the night of March 18, where they stabbed him multiple times and left his body in a wheat field. His body was found five days later on March 23, and the arrests were made on Monday. A senior police officer stated that the body had been sent for post-mortem.
Circle Officer Mohammad Faheem, Chandan remained in touch with Surendra Yadav’s sister even after her marriage. He repeatedly called her at her in-laws’ house and attempted to meet her, but she refused.
According to the police, Chandan allegedly shared the woman’s photos on Instagram after she distanced herself from him, causing tensions in her in-laws’ family. When she informed her family, her brother Surendra Yadav decided to take revenge.
On the day of Holi, Surendra gained Chandan’s trust and later borrowed someone else’s phone to lure him to a secluded field on the night of March 18. Once there, Surendra and his cousin Rohit Yadav ambushed him, stabbed him to death, and left his body in a wheat field.
Police have registered a case under BNS sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (destruction of evidence) against Surendra, Shri Bhagwan, Bali Yadav, Deepak Yadav, all from Chandan’s village and the woman’s cousin, Rohit Yadav, from Bihar’s Saran district.
Chandan’s father, Shyam Bihari Prasad, alleged in his complaint that the accused took his son from home, killed him, and disposed of the body.
Police arrested Surendra and Rohit on Monday. “Both confessed to the crime, and we have recovered three knives used in the murder,” said Circle Officer Mohammad Faheem.
