Ram Kapoor faced significant backlash after reports emerged that he had made inappropriate s*xual comments during promotional activities for his upcoming JioHotstar series, Mistry. He has acknowledged making some distasteful statements and admitted he didn’t realise they would make the crew uncomfortable. Ram Kapoor has now responded to the allegations, stating he is “guilty as charged.”
He has finally spoken out about the incident and requested everyone to allow him the opportunity to explain himself. He told ETimes, “Let me begin by saying that everything I’ve been accused of saying — I have said it. So yes, I am guilty as charged. But this is what I want people to understand: when I’m in a space where I feel comfortable, I become my usual, bindass self. That’s just how I’ve always been. Everyone who has worked with me knows that I never intend to offend.”
He further added that he was unaware of how his comments might have made others uncomfortable, stating, “I didn’t feel that even once throughout the day. We were laughing and joking. If I had gotten the whiff that they were offended, I would have addressed it right away.” Ram elaborated, “If I felt it was inappropriate, why would I say it openly in a hall full of media people? My character has been questioned for the first time in 25 years, so do acknowledge my justification.” He concluded by acknowledging the need to modify his behaviour, saying, “I am aware that I cannot be my ‘obnoxious normal self’ anymore.”
What Happened?
According to a Mid-Day report, the actor made these questionable remarks at an event in Mumbai last week. Eyewitnesses, who claim the incident occurred on June 19, reported that Ram Kapoor’s comments, laden with sexual innuendo. This made members of the JioHotstar team uncomfortable.
A source from JioHotstar stated, “The tone and content of his ‘jokes’ were unprofessional. He had back-to-back interviews that day.
