A terrible road accident took place in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district early Monday morning, resulting in the death of seven people and injuries to 14 others. The accident happened when a truck and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided on the Sidhi-Bahri Road.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gayatri Tiwari, “The incident took place at around 2.30 am near Upni petrol pump on Sidhi-Bahri Road.” The SUV, which was a taxi carrying a family, was on its way to Maihar, while the truck was heading towards Bahri from Sidhi. The two vehicles crashed head-on, leading to a tragic accident.
Seven people who were traveling in the SUV lost their lives on the spot. The remaining 14 passengers suffered injuries. Officials said that nine of the injured were sent to Rewa for better treatment, while the others were admitted to the Sidhi district hospital.
Police have detained the truck driver for questioning. “Further investigation is underway,” the official added.
Reasons behind the increasing road accidents in India
Road accidents happen frequently in our country, and one of the main reasons is overspeeding, especially during late-night drives. Many drivers, in a hurry to reach their destination, ignore road safety rules and drive at high speeds. This makes it difficult to control vehicles, leading to deadly collisions.
Another major cause is heavy-loaded trucks. These trucks often travel long distances with large amounts of goods, making them difficult to handle. Sometimes, drivers are tired but continue driving, increasing the chances of accidents. Poor road conditions, lack of streetlights, and careless driving further add to the risk of crashes.
This accident highlights the dangers of road travel, especially during the night. Authorities are urging drivers to be more careful to prevent such tragedies in the future.
