Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj is gearing up to start filming his untitled action thriller featuring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri this December. The project has generated considerable excitement as it marks Bhardwaj’s reunion with Shahid after seven years, following their collaboration on Rangoon in 2017.
Shahid Kapoor to play gangster in Vishal Bhardwaj’s next film
According to a report by Mid-Day, Shahid’s character is inspired by the infamous gangster Hussain Ustara, known for his fierce rivalry with Dawood Ibrahim. To embody this challenging role, Shahid Kapoor has embarked on rigorous combat training to prepare for the adrenaline-fueled action sequences central to his character for the upcoming film by Vishal Bhardwaj.
A source shared, “Shahid is undergoing intense combat training to meet the demands of the action sequences. Equally important is his quest to understand the mental complexities of a character like Ustara. Vishal sir is mentoring him as he explores Ustara’s motivations, emotions, and internal conflicts.”
Triptii Dimri’s Role Focused on Revenge
While Shahid delves into the physical and psychological aspects of Ustara, the film’s leading lady, Triptii Dimri, is also diligently preparing for her role, which centres around themes of revenge. The source noted, “Triptii’s role is pivotal to the storyline, requiring her to adopt the mindset of a character-driven by vengeance.” Both actors are currently working on their preparations and will begin joint rehearsals as the filming date approaches.
Bhardwaj’s Long-Awaited Vision
This project has been a long-desired ambition. Initially, Bhardwaj envisioned a biopic on Sapna Didi, with the late Irrfan Khan portraying Ustara alongside Deepika Padukone. Although that project did not come to fruition, it seems Vishal Bhardwaj has now found his ideal cinematic gangster in Shahid Kapoor.
