Uttera Singh is wearing multiple hats for her feature directorial debut, Pinch, for which the teaser has been released. The film is set for a world premiere at the Tribeca International Narrative Festival on 6th June. The India-set mother-daughter dramedy has been selected the film festival. This marks the first Indian film to compete in the section in 3 years.
Uttera Singh’s Pinch Teaser Out
In the teaser, Uttera Singh plays the role of Maitri. She is a travel vlogger living with her traditional mother, Shobha (Geeta Agrawal), in a tight-knit apartment complex. When an incident during a community pilgrimage gets swept under the rug, the mother-daughter duo must confront the emotional aftermath in a claustrophobic reckoning with truth, tradition, and the price of silence.
The story revolves around how society often dismisses incidents as ‘small’, often not realising the trauma it causes someone. There is comedy and energy to spark conversation. It reflects the absurdity of silence around assault. The film doesn’t pretend to have answers but insists on questioning. Sunita Rajwar, Sapna Sand, Badri Chavan, Rajiv Neema, Jahnvi Marathe and Nitish Pandey are also a part of the film.
