Vidya Balan is one of the extremely talented and versatile actors in Bollywood. She is currently gearing up for the release of the rom-com Do Aur Do Pyaar. The actress started her journey in showbiz without any godfather. She starred in the TV sitcom Hum Paanch and got a break through Parineeta in 2005. Since then there has been no looking back for her. In a recent interview, Vidya Balan shared her thoughts on nepotism in Bollywood.
Vidya Balan on nepotism in Bollywood
Sharing her thoughts on the much-debated topic, the actress stated, “Nepotism or no nepotism, I am here. Kisi ki baap ki industry nahi hai, nahi toh har baap ka beta, har baap ki beti successful hote (The film industry does not belong to anyone’s father, else every star kid would be successful).”
She elaborated, “I have been happy doing my own things. There were times when I felt like, ‘Maybe if I had the protection of certain people, people would have been a bit kinder in those phases.’ But in terms of opportunities, I don’t think anybody has been able to deny me my share.”
Vidya Balan reveals she is asked to lose weight
The actress also shared how she is asked by the producers and directors to shed some extra kilos before every movie. She shared, “Before every film, I would get asked by the producers and directors if I could shed some weight. And I have been going through some health challenges for a long long time. So it was next to impossible. Finally four to five years ago, when the director said this to me, I said, ‘Please, I am not going to be the body you need me to be. You need to go to the body you need.’ I find this absolutely ridiculous. Because the part was written with me in mind. So why this insistence? What is this obsession with only thin being desirable and acceptable?”
On the work front, Vidya will next be seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 alongside Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri.
